			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Detroit, April 10(Reuters) – U.S regulators are looking for a penalty again against Toyota Motor Corp for willingly delaying a major recall over accelerator pedals, after declaring a fine of $16.4 mn against the Toyota on Monday.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.newdealmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/US-Regulator-2nd-Fine-Against-Toyota.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-113" title="US Regulator- 2nd Fine Against Toyota" src="http://www.newdealmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/US-Regulator-2nd-Fine-Against-Toyota-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a>According to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Toyota has 2.3 mn vehicles in month of January for faulty pedals that last four months after the auto maker finalized safety defects in vehicles.</p>
<p>NHTSA also disclose that Toyota indicated two separate defects in the recalled pedals, the letter showed. Agency sources said that Toyota would be facing 13.8 bn if not follow U.S law.</p>
<p>Fine imposed against Toyota is the largest amount of fine imposed by U.S law on any company till today. $16.4 is a huge amount that is to be charged. “The gravity of Toyota’s apparent is severe and life threatening.” NHTSA Chief Counsel O Kevin Vincent.</p>
<p>U.S law determined a $6000 penalty for Toyota’s defective vehicle, adding to $13.8 bn. According to a law, individual fine against a manufacture can’t exceed the amount of $16.375 mn as said in the letter.</p>
<p>Toyota has decided whether to appeal for U.S safety regulations default in the world largest auto market. “If in case Toyota doesn’t agree to pay demand penalty, NHTSA will refer this case to U.S Department of Justice for their recommendation for a civil action in federal court.”</p>
<p>U.S automakers are obliged to respond for safety measure with five days if defect exists. Toyota make changes in Japan and Canada but didn’t focus in U.S. According to agency, Toyota vehicle can jam the pedals and can lead to uncontrolled action in U.S market.</p>
<p>Previously, General Motor was fined for $1 mn for failing to prove safety measures in windshield wipers in 2002-2003 model vehicles.</p>
