Los Angles, April 12(2010) “How to train Your Dragon” became a biggest winner where as Steve Carell and Tina Fey’s “Titan” heat box office this weekend. Release from the Dream Works Animation is benefiting more from strong word of mouth in the ad campaign at launch, ticket sales for “Dragon” decline more than 13% on the box office.

“Date Night” which stars like Fey and Carell opened a solid $27.1 mn. The difference between the 20 th century Fox and Warner Bros. was just $225,000 within first three day. Movie “Titan” grossed up little higher amount than its competitors. People do enjoy “Date Night” but it could not collect higher revenue from ticket price at 3-D screens.

Regardless of the ranking “Date Night’ managed to have a fairly good opening above estimates. Movie cost to the producer and co-financier around $55 million to make it. It is still to be known that “Date Night” will put an impression on young minds or as it is upto 60% of the opening box office. According to research, it got an average grade of B.
“Dragon” got an effective box office opening on the first weekend and become a full-fledged hit. “Monster v/s Aliens” received $16 mn more from “Dragon” on the same weekend. “Monster v/s Aliens” drop 34% and 13 % on its second and third weekend where as “Dragon” dropped 45% and 33% respectively.

“Dragon” has made as significant opening worldwide with $148 mn. Basically, 3-D screens are the reason for vast majority for its revenue having 65% U.S market share and 69% global market share.

“Clash of the Titans” end up with lower domestic business with a 56% drop in sales. The total domestic ticket sale is around $110.5 mn likely to end up $150 mn.
