As per the official sources, a person belonging to Greece has been released by the Taliban militia after eight months of kidnap. The abduction of this Greek national named Athanassios Lerounistook place in the northern district of chitral in Afghanistan. He worked in this place for many years as a warden for a heritage museum. After the kidnap, this man was taken to the other side of the border into the afghan province of Nuristan.

The reason for the abduction was the release of certain Taliban militants from Afghanistan, as per the sources. As per the officials, no exchange of the militant release has been done. The main reason for the release of this Greek national are the constant efforts made by the of the intelligence agencies of Pakistan, said rahmatulah wazir, a top administrator of chitral. This guard of the museum had been residing in the kalesh valley. He was on an intense research for a lost tribe when he was kidnapped by men with arms on the seventh of September 2007.

The kalesh tribe has got the European looks but this practices some pagan religious doctrines that resemble that of ancient Greek culture. As per the research, it has been found that this race finds its traces from the Greek soldiers when Alexander passed through this area for an invasion. The main area of work of Athanassios Lerounis in the museum was to investigate certain secret truths of this tribe. The Greek government had sponsored him for this project.
