As per the sources, the initial results of counting that happened few hours before showed an unpredictable lead of the ruling alliance. The parliamentary poll took place on Thursday. The results have been declared by the election commission of Sri Lanka.
This election result has come as a surprise for many because of the lead of the united people’s freedom alliance. This alliance has so far bagged eleven seats. As per the counting status till morning today, the alliance has bagged around ten lakh votes. This number amounts to sixty-two percent of the votes. The main opposition is touching closer to half a million votes that amounts to twenty seven percent of the votes.

The democratic alliance that was operated by the detained army personnel fonseka has got votes less than one lakh that amounts to five percent. In the northern belt of srilanka that is dominated by the ethnic tamilians, the vote count has gone up to the number that touches 50 thousand.
As per certain circles, this election result has really proved to be a landmark victory for the ruling alliance since the termination of the LTTE in the month of May. This termination marked the end of the tedious war with the rebels that lasted almost about 26 years. Around fifteen million people of Sri Lanka were eligible for voting in this grand election. 36 political parties and 301 independent groups participated in this election.
